I'm going to hell..

I lied to my mother-in-law and told her the baby cardigans were lovely when in all honesty I wasn't thrilled with them at all.

I did the good daughter-in-law routine and everyone didn't suspect a thing.

Some of them are for me but I can't see any baby wearing them, the cuffs were so narrow I had trouble getting 2 fingers through the gap, and though babies are really small I can't see any baby getting their hands through the cuffs at all.

I tried to fall asleep on the sofa but it didn't work, she just kep talking. She can't take a hint!!!!!!

Take comfort in the fact that you rarely use all the first baby clothes cos they grow so fast - get her to knit blankets instead, at least you would use them x

  For some reason she isn't able to knit blankets, she can't manage them for some reason. Strange when they are the easiest thing to make

    That is a bit odd! Just let her continue with the baby stuff, you can always donate it to charity if you don't like it - keeping one for when she is there of course

      Good idea or sometimes the church gathers stuff for care packages to go to 3rd world countries so at least they'll be put to good use even if we don't use them

don't worry sweetie, just put the cardie on when the mother in law is visiting and then whip it off when you can, and as BDA said they grow so fast anyways XXX

With my first wife, her mother had several tote boxes full of clothes for a child we hadn't even planned on having yet.

Is this her first grandchild?

  She has 5 grandchildren (though 1 died at birth) and 1 step-grandchild so ours won't be the 1st. You'd think she'd be calmed down by now.

Is your husband her only son who will be passing down the family name? Seems odd that she's THIS excited about grandchild number 7

And it's amazing how cardigans shrink in the wash...hehe

  She does have an older son who has 2 sons of his own and a step-son also. Could understand all of this if hubbie was the only one but his bro has already been through this and though it's hubbie's 1st child it's still a little excessive what she's doing.
  
  Can't believe I forgot about the washing, especially if hubbie is doing the washing he's very good at shrinking my woollen jumpers, he's the reason I don't have them anymore.
