  • I dunno how he manages it but...

...my Daddy has killed another computer. Their computer blew up during the week (again). This happens quite regularly.

Next time they buy a new computer am going to see if they'll take either my sister or me with them so we can make sure it'll do what he needs it to do rather than them getting just something.

It still puzzles me how he managed to blow it up this time!

  • I hate our Sky tv!!!!

Ever since it was 'fixed' it's been acting worse than before!

It's not recording anything though it's been set in plenty of time, it keeps telling me there's a technical fault with channels so I've missed Let's Dance for Comic Relief which I'm not amused about, I'm trying to flick down the channels but it's actually sending me up the channels, and a few other problems as well.

    Argh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Sky man is coming out 6th March cause that's when hubbie has a day off and hopefully we'll get a different guy who'll be able to sort whatever the problems are, if he gives us another new box, which this current one is meant to be, he'd better make sure it works or else I'll be refusing to pay the next bill and cancelling the direct debit until they sort it.

Why should I pay £47 a month for something that's not working!

  • The talking clock is still Gary Barlow.

    I'm not complaining!

  • Thank goodness I have an office to myself!

I just caught myself on dancing about in my chair waving my arms about to some Queen

You'd think I was having a good day just to look at me, but Queen and Adam Ant have that effect on me!

  • Ouch - headache

Head is starting to get sore, feel like it's going to fall off it's that heavy and fuzzy.

    Eugh!

  • Song of the week:

Well should probably say songs rather than just song:

    Anything by Adam Ant!!

Must dig out the cd when I get home and play it as loud as possible tonight and dance about with hubbie if he'll dance with me

  • I've done bugger all today!

I've tried to do a lot of the stuff that needs tidying and sorting, all that stuff I've been avoiding the past wee while, but I don't seem to be getting anywhere fast and I've nothing to show for the stuff that I have been doing.

Hate days like that! No-one ever believes that you've been working and just assume because they can't see anything means I didn't do anything. Not a good thing in here.

    Oh well, there's always tomorrow!

  • Belfast City Centre at a stand still

A suspicious package has been found down at Victoria Square.

Heard on the radio the shops have been evacuated and the area cleared so am hoping that's just a safety precaution and nothing for real concern.

Must listen to the news when I get home.

  • Usually when I buy pineapple I swear I won't buy it again...

...my tongue and the inside of my mouth swells up for some reason and what I started to enjoy quickly becomes not nice.

I'm always hopeful that it won't happen again and so far so good but I won't be holding my breath cause my tongue is starting to tingle!

  • Wendy Richards has died

    Sad news.

I not a fan of Eastenders so never saw her in that but I do remember her from a couple of Carry On films and Are You Being Served?

My thoughts go to her family and loved ones at this sad time.

  • Someone forbid him from going near the aftershave bottle!!!

I dunno which one is to blame but he's wearing so much aftershave it's stinking the office out!!

A few of the fellas walked past my office there over 5 mins ago and I can still smell the aftershave and that's just from walking past, I'm scared to walk past their offices incase I pass out from the strength of it.

Wouldn't be so bad if it was nice but it's making my head sore

  • Quite like the talking clock today...

    ...it's Gary Barlow.

    I love him!

    Such talented hands!!!!!!!

  • Today's talking clock is...

    ...Kimberley Walsh.........ping, ping, ping.

    Wonder who'll we'll get tomorrow?

  • So much for making my shopping list the other night!

I walked out of the house this morning without it and I'm going straight from work to get the shopping and won't have time to go and get it as hubbie is picking me up.

    Blooming typical!

  • My reasons why being a girl isn't fun.

    1. Periods. Evil nasty things. If men had to suffer them there would be no longer be any pain or suffering when they are here. In my next life I refuse to come back as a woman unless they have solved the period pain problem.

    2. Men. They complicate things. They get in the way. They think they are always right even when it's staring them in the face that they are wrong. Most of the men I know are terrified of mice and spiders so what use are they?!

    3. Tights etc. An instrument of torture designed to make us suffer. I find it hard to get a pair that'll fit round the waist and be the right length for me legs (wee short legs), it's damn near impossible!!!! This is one of the reasons why I rarely wear skirts.

    4. Mechanics. I book the work vans into the garages to get stuff done before mot and all that and 9 times out of 10 I can tell the mechanic what is wrong with the van and what I need them to do. Obviously I'm wrong because I'm female is the attitude I meet. It doesn't even work when I try to explain that my foreman told me what was wrong with the van and I'm just repeating what he said, the mechanic refuses to believe me. In the end I get the foreman or one of the guys to ring up and say the exact same as me, for some reason they are believed! Hate that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    5. The McAlister thighs! It's a curse in our family. Something both my sister and me got from my Mummy. If I was a bloke I wouldn't have gotten them so why should I get them because I'm a girl. It's discrimination it is!!!!!

These will do for the moment, I may rant again later depending on how my afternoon goes

  • Now have Friday all sorted...

...hubbie is taking the night off work, picking niecey and me up from Belfast, dropping niecey home so she can get ready to go out with her friends, and then we are going out for something to eat and to see a movie.

All sorted, dunno what I was worrying about.

He's going to tell work that his car is off the road and he doesn't have a car until Saturday night which is true and he won't be lying and they should accept this ok because last night they rang him to see if he could cover a shift and he already said he couldn't because of his car, so it's not like they don't already know and it won't be such a surprise to them.

Although now I'm thinking on it maybe hubbie should go to the Buffs with his Dad on Friday night instead of going to the cinema, he will be doing his rising after the summer so he should show his face a bit more often. I'll ask him about it and see what he says, I don't mind not going out, I can go to his Mummy's for tea and biscuits and watch cartoons with the nephew who'll be staying over, that sounds like fun!

  • RIP hubbie's car.

His car is trying to die, I would let it die if it was mine, would probably be cheaper to buy another than to try and fix it but hubbie has other ideas.

The only problem I have really with hubbie's car dying is that he needs to use mine which normally I don't mind and last night when we were talking about it I didn't mind then either but I just remembered this morning I'm out with niecey Friday afternoon, how am I to get her home again? Neither of us know which bus runs between my house and hers and I have never ordered a taxi from this area so don't know which ones to trust and wouldn't feel right putting her in a taxi that we've never used before.

Might be a case of us going our separate ways in town and her going on one bus and me on another but that would cut into our shopping time! :O that would never do :))

Must talk to hubbie about it tonight, maybe he could pick us up in town but I don't think he'll go for that idea as he has to go straight onto work and it would make him a bit late, not that they would mind so much but he would lose a bonus the drivers get for starting earlier than their normal time.

    A chat should sort it.

  • Cheryl Cole is the talking clock

Got a headache now after listening to her for a couple of seconds!

I know it's for Red Nose Day and all that but does the talking clock, which is quite annoying sounding already, have to be Cheryl Cole? The one person who can make all my hair stand on end and make me cringe when she opens her gub and tries to speak English.

I'm sure she's a lovely girl and everything, but why the talking clock!!!

  • Going to be brave tomorrow and buy new trainers!

This is something I don't do, I usually wait until my trainers are trying to fall apart before I buy a new pair. Actually thinking about it the pair that I owned before my present ones were binned by hubbie to make me go get a new pair. His tactics may be cruel but they are effective.

I want to go for more walks, with or without hubbie, and a new pair of trainers will be just the sort of thing to get me more motivated and will encourage me and encouragement is just one of the things I'll need especially if I want hubbie to go with me (cattle prod might just do the trick).

Am also going to buy a pedometer each, I know I can manage to get the daily recommended amount of steps each day but hubbie can't so want to do what I can to get him moving about more, and a pedometer will help with that, she says with hope in her heart and fear in her stomach. It's not going to be easy getting him moving about more and I'm not sure if I have the strength to do it becuse it will take a lot of fighting and falling out and making him feel guilty and I hate that it has to happen like this but it does. Am hoping that as we get started and he gets used to it it won't be so bad and he might even suggest going for a walk or two.

Will be getting rechargeable batteries for my mp3 player I think cause I can foresee many a lone walk ahead.

  • Hubbie is finally on facebook!

Not that he cares much about it but he now has a page so his friends can stop pestering me about getting him on it because I've gone and done it.

It was set up last night and of course I did everything while he sat beside me and watched tv, I got away with doing whatever I wanted to it and wrote what I wanted when filling in the all the info about me stuff, I wrote that he liked Take That and though he read it he didn't even notice so I wrote some lovely stuff about me his missus.

Just wait until his friends see his page, then he'll sit up and take notice!

  • Who is having pancakes today?

I will admit we aren't, but that's only because I don't have enough eggs and can't get anymore until tomorrow when I get paid so Hubbie will be getting pancakes for Saturday lunchtime.

I make pancakes quite regularly so he doesn't mind missing out on today.

Not such as bad wee girl as I was expecting!

  • Just tried to wash a bruise off.....................silly me.

It's on the inside of my wrist, dunno how I managed to get one there, don't remember hitting my wrist off anything so wasn't expecting a bruise to appear there that's why I tried to wash it off, it looked like a dirty mark!

    Oh dear, silly me.

  • What's for lunch?

    Not sure.

One of the girls in here wants to go to the noodle bar to get something but I'm not in the mood for noodles.

There is the option of the Streat, Burger King, or Subway if I don't go to the Noodle Bar, but I'm not sure if I want any of that.

    I dunno.

  • Mummy Heather strikes again!

I've just had to check another cut for one of the guys in here, this one is at the bottom of his leg near his ankle. He came off his bike over the weekend and it's still hurting him.

I get to do things like this quite regularly - the worse one I've had to look at was a huge gravelly scrape down one of the guy's thigh, he was playing football on a gravel pitch and he came down hard and took the skin off the top of his leg and thigh, that was on the Saturday and he didn't do anything about it until Monday when he got me to look at it. I was on my knees in the work kitchen and he had his trousers down round his ankles, thank goodness no-one saw us it would've been very embarrassing for us and no-one would've believed I was only tidying up the scrape! He still had all the gravel in it and it was really really messy, not a good thing to spend the weekend with.

Someone once told me I mother the guys in here too much, I'm beginning to believe them!

  • Does anywhere recycle Brother Ink Cartridges?!

I can't find anywhere that'll take them for recycling!

All those places claiming to recycle everything for charity seem to have missed out Brother when listing the cartridges they'll accept and the ones that do have them on a list ended up selling them rather than recycling them.

I hate the thought of binning something if it can be put to good use later on and will bring benefit to others but I can't find anywhere that'll take them.

    Any suggestions anyone?

  • My 1st weekend with internet and...

    ...I got bugger all done!!

No surprise there then says hubbie, he was apparently expecting this to happen, so nice to see I didn't let him down.

The novelty will have worn off in another day or two and things will get back to normal (fingers crossed) or maybe I should just fit as much housework into during the week as I can incase it happens this weekend again!

  • Comparing Tesco, Sainsburys & Asda prices.

Not a big difference in price really between the3 of them.

                                                      Tesco               Sainsburys          Asda

    Pasta (500g)                           78p                   78p                       78p
    Bananas (per/kg)                   78p                   78p                       78p
    Spaghetti                                 75p                   75p                        56p
    Macaroni                                  78p                   78p                       78p
    Custard                                    25p                   25p                       43p
    Milk (2L)                                   1.18                  1.53                       1.18
    Cream Soda                            47p                  46p                        47p
    Cherryade                                46p                   46p                        46p
    Dromona Spreadable           1.65                                                 1.65
    Sunflower Oil                           1.24                  1.36                      1.28
    Ground Cinnamon                 85p                   85p                        68p
    Pudding Rice (500g)             84p                   84p                        84p

Haven't gone through the cupboards yet to see what we still need but I'm not sure where's the best to go shopping yet cause there isn't much a difference really.

  • Spuds are on.

Sunday is the only day I get to cook something I like rather than something that both hubbie and I will eat. He won't eat spuds unless they are mashed up the way he likes and even then he won't eat all that much of it.

Spuds and corn - very nice and comfort food at the same time.

  • Making use of tesco, sainsburys, and asda online shopping and...

...making a shopping list then comparing the prices to see what's cheapest and where.

Think I'll try and do this every month and see what I can save.

    Fingers crossed it'll work!

  • Does nobody bake anymore...

...or do they all use the cake mixes you buy in boxes?

I've never considered using a ready made mix where's the fun in that? Where's the sense of achievement?! Where's the fun in getting the flour everywhere and measuring everything out?

Better stop there or I'll really start ranting.

Maybe it's just the adverts for the ready made stuff that annoys me rather than the packets themselves, the ones with the voices dubbed over. Hate them!!!

  • Should probably bin my roses tomorrow...

    ...but I don't want to!

Hubbie doesn't buy me flowers all that often and the thought of binning them isn't a good one though they are turning brown on me and trying to die.

Will see if I can save any of them even for another day or two at least in the morning and be ruthless with the rest of them.

  • All my pics are on facebook...

...well I think it's all of them, have to double check that cause I'll be asked and have tagged my niece in a load of them so she'll see them quicker than asking me which albums they're in.

    Good night's work I think.

  • My cat snores.

She snores really really badly. It's quite funny really that something that loud could come out of something that small.

    We love her anyway.

  • I'm here and I have internet at home!!!!!

    Our internet is working!!!!

All chuffed but now I don't know what to do with it, not sure what to do online.

Oh well I'm sure I'll find something.

  • I refuse to stay late tonight...

...and will be going home with the clock says 3.30pm, quitting time for a Friday.

I've stayed late enough this week to get things sorted and I'm seriously not in the mood to be staying late today again. My back hurts too much and I just want to curl up on the sofa and watch nonsense tv, eat comfort food, and be ignored by the cats.

Don't even have any post to do today so I won't have to fight with the post office or else wait for the other post box to open on Montgomery Road, am not in the mood to drive.

Really though I should be going down home to see my parent's but I will be seeing them after band practise tomorrow so they won't mind so much, and I'll probably see ma-in-law on Sunday so that's another thing I don't need to do tonight.

Just have to make sure I can find my hot bot and that'll be me sorted for the night!

  • Lidl

Their coke tastes almost exactly like coca-cola. Hubbie going to buy a few more bottles tonight when he's out at work.

Wonder how it tastes with vodka?

  • Hubbie cooked tea last night.

I got in after 6pm, he was home before me. He waited until I got home and then started making tea.

I had left chicken in the fridge for tea last night and he had it out sitting and waiting and the bacon was only lifted out of the freezer as I walked through the door. I got kicked out of the kitchen and he closed the door on me.

He cooked everything separately so they were all cold, he then put it all in an oven dish and spread a whole load of grated cheese on top and stuck it in the oven for a bit until cheese was melted and everything heated through.

If he had stopped before the cheese was added or just put cheese over his side of the dish I would've ate more of my tea last night, as it was I didn't touch most of the top of it and ate mostly pasta and chicken with honey and mustard sauce, didn't eat much bacon at all.

He made an effort and I love him for it but I'm going to repeat what I said to him the other night, if he opened a tin of soup for me now and again I'd love him to bits for it!

  • Word(s) of the day 1

    Not a happy bunny.

    Cause I'm not.

  • My heart is poundling like crazy and it's not good.

Usually when it does this my blood pressure is way way up and I get told off by the nurse. It's an uncomfy feeling and slightly distracting but it's not doing anything other than that, it doesn't hurt and I can still do everything I need to.

Wish I knew why it goes the way it goes so I could do things to avoid it. Not a happy bunny today.

  • Nope it's not working.

No internet. Nothing to keep me amused in the house. Nothing to help me avoid housework.

    Not a happy bunny.

  • Please, please, please be working when I get home!

    The internet that is!

I need to go onto facebook and bebo and see the messages people have been leaving me, especially the ones from hubbie's friends about him not having a facebook account, and I need to put all the pics I've taken since the summer up as well cause niecey is looking for them to add to her accounts. I need to catch up on all of the games I used to play on facebook and see how badly I've been losing lately! and I just want to be able to search for things on google the way hubbie and I used to do when we were watching a programme and someone made a reference to something and we didn't know what they were talking about. We have a long list of things we need to google!

    Fingers crossed!

  • Headache starting

Feels like I'm caught in a vice and all the pressure is trying to escape through the top of my nose.

    Not a good feeling.

  • Why do cheese sandwiches always seem like a good idea...

...but after eating one of them I'm fed up eating them?

It's not like a cut the cheese thick, I like it quite thin and it must be butter not margarine and I always make two of them but after I eat the 1st one I'm not in the mood for them anymore.

You'd think I'd learn by now.

  • We have tv again!

The engineer just changed the boxes over and that was that.

Was a bit embarassed about the dust sitting ontop of the old box but if you can't see it we tend to ignore it and that was possibly one of the reasons why the box stopped working, too much dust getting inside it so we must remember to dust there more often to make sure it never happens again.

  • I think our internet might be working...

    ...but our phone line isn't.

Hubbie connected the bt home hub and phone up last night and plugged it into the wall so everything would be sitting ready for us when bt fixed whatever it is that's causing the fault, and I looked at the hub this morning as it's sitting outside our bedroom door (for some reason the phone line is upstairs and not down) and the internet light was on. According to the instruction booklet if the internet light is on then it's working, so when I get home tonight I'll be trying the laptop and seeing if it's online.

Can't wait to get this day over with so I can get home and see what's what!

  • Should get our tv back on today...

...and just in time for Grey's Anatomy tonight!

The engineer rang me after 5 yesterday to let me know he'll be out between 10 and 1, but would ring me beforehand because he knows I have to nip out of work to let him into the house.

Can't believe how much we missed the tv when it wasn't working; when I'm in the house by myself I'll have it on for background noise, I hate silence and must have something on in the background. It's not that I don't like being in the house by myself, I don't mind that, it's just that I don't like the quietness that comes from being by yourself and I need something to break it up.

Will be good to put the music channels back on and my cooking programmes, I've had nearly a whole week without Ina Garten!

  • Possible good news re BT and our landline for a change!

Hubbie was talking to them at lunchtime and apparently the phone line coming into your house has a fault, so according to the faults team we won't need the engineer that was coming out on 6th March and we won't have to pay the £126, thank goodness. The fault appears to be on their side and not with any equipment we may have so their engineer comes out free of charge, he will go to the exchange and do whatever needs doing there and if that doesn't work then he'll have to call out to our house, but because they can't tell us when that will be what happens is the engineer calls round and if we aren't there leaves his details and then we arrange with him when we can be there for him to come round and do what he needs to to the phone lines and box thingy.

So there's a possibility we'll have our phone line up and running this week!

Not holding our breath though because it'll never happen if we get too excited about it.

  • My boss just hit my car

More damage to his huge BMW than there is to mine, I have a dent just above the driver's side front wheel and he has a big scrape along the corner driver's side below the boot.

Not quite sure what happened but a lady refused to move and he was trying to get around her and reverse at the same time and my car got bumped.

I'm not worried too much about it as it's very minor but we're glad it was my car he hit and not someone who had just parked there to run across to the shop, so that's the only good thing about it.

  • Got our holiday sheet in yesterday...

...no surprises really we get the same more or less every year.

    17th March - St Patrick's Day
    13th - 17th April - Easter
    4th May - Mayday
    9th - 24th July - twelve fortnight/summer
    2nd - 3rd November - Halloween
    21st December - 1st January - Christmas

Construction holidays are quite good but because our holidays are set out for us and sometimes we do a bit better than my best friend who works in a hospital lab we aren't encouraged to take time off as and when we need to so we can't take a day here and a day there. Bit annoying especially when you'd love to take the day off and spend it in the house or else out and about at something but there we go. Just have to remember we do a lot better during the summer and at christmas when others may have to work.

  • BT are a confuzzling lot.

Hubbie got a bill in yesterday for the landline that won't be up and running until 6th March so he rang up about it (this was when his mobile went flying across the room) and the long and short of it is that we might not need the £126.00 stg engineer to come out to us on 6th March as the line seems to be working well enough on their end of things but just hasn't been turned on on our side, and that they may be able to do that without an engineer.

Now if that's true why weren't we told that the 1st 6 times we rang up about it, 1st we were told that we did have a line then told no we didn't have one and on and on and on.

The bloke from BT was meant to ring us last night but he didn't, hopefully he'll either ring hubbie today sometime or hubbie will ring him I'm sure.

You can ring our landline and it rings ok but we don't have a dial tone on our end of things.

Frustrating isn't the word, I want my internet up and running again!!!

  • I'm away for most of the day and what happens?

My boss eats most of my sunflower seeds!

He's not allowed to be nibbling between meals and look what happens when we aren't here to tell him to stop. His daughter works here also and I bet she didn't know that's the reason he kept coming into my office yesterday, just to eat my sunflower seeds.

If his wife finds out I'm in trouble!

  • All these pointless cards in my purse...

....I have loads of cards in my purse and only 1 bank card the rest are reward cards etc.

    Makro card
    Waterstone's Card
    WHSmith club card
    Matalan card
    Ikea Family card
    Boots card
    Nectar card
    Tesco clubcard
    Iceland bonus card
    Game reward card
    Co-op membership card
    AA card

    and hubbie's R.A.O.B membership card

Scary thing is I use most of these every month with the exception of Matalan, Makro, Game and Ikea they are more like every other month and thankfully the AA card doesn't get used all that much, fingers crossed!

Amazing how many bits of plastic clutter up my purse but I'd feel lost without them.

  • He's a grumpy sod!

Sometimes I wonder why I married him, I really do.

Last night he was on his mobile with BT about getting charged for a landline we don't have yet, and the signal disappeared. He was grumpy already so what did he do? He threw his mobile across the living room.

I went to bed at 9pmish and read for a while to avoid him as I wasn't happy but if I tried to explain what was wrong with me he'd get grumpier and angrier and that would've started in a fight with me bawling my eyes out at the end of it and nothing resolved. Sometime during the time between me going to bed and grumpy going to bed the electric must've started beeping because when we got up this morning at 8am there was no electric as we had run out. Now if he had heard this beeping last night he would've known that there wouldn't be any electric.

Cue made hunt for the electric cards to get some. Of course neither could be found. I bought electric last and left the card sitting ontop of the meter box, naturally it wasn't there and according to him I had lost it. I asked him where the spare card had gone that he had used before me, he couldn't tell me, but for some reason that was ok, he was allowed to not know where the damn card was even though he was the last person with it.

I couldn't do anything right this morning at all.

I ended up coming on to work while he was out getting electric, though why he drove down to the garage in the really heavy traffic is beyond me when there's a wee shop more or less across the road that has a payment point. So that's something else he'll be grumpy about and I'll get the blame for.

Not sure I want to go home tonight and listen to it.

  • The problem with having no tv is...

...hubbie buys the £1 dvds from Tesco that are complete and utter nonsense, he sits and watches them, and then does nothing but complain about how silly they are and what a waste of a £1 they are.

I thought the price might've been a big clue as to what the film would be like, if it's cheap in price it's usually cheap overall.

  • New shops coming to Connswater?

There's a rumour that some new shops will be moving into Connswater Shopping Centre itself and the park around it.

Apparently Matalan are moving into the old Budget store down in the park; Primark are moving into where Woolsworth used to be and; Asda Living have bought over Dunnes.

If this is true it will be such a boost for Connswater which has gotten so quiet since Woolsworth left after Christmas and I'm looking forward to it because I love Matalan for jeans and shirts for work. It'll also give me something to do on the rare occasion I take a dander during lunchtime.

Fingers crossed there's some truth behind the rumour!

  • I've forgotten my gloves!!!!

How I managed to do that I dunno cause they have to be practically surgically removed from me. I won't be going to the graveside anyway so I shouldn't need them, but I feel a little lost without them!

  • Do you think I'll be back in work this afternoon?

Do you think anyone would realise if I just went on home after the funeral and crawled into bed for an hour or two before hubbie comes home and starts annoying me? Or should I just be a good girl and come back to work so I can get rid of all my post and check what this morning's post has brought me? (I'll be away before the postman arrives).

I'm always the good girl but today I'm wondering if I should just try it for a change and see what it's like to misbehave. Loads of people get away with it so why shouldn't I?!?!

  • Not sure what to be at today...

I'll only be in work for about 2 hours before I have to go again for this funeral and in that time I'm not likely to get much done, so dunno what to do that won't involve me too much and won't get me annoyed when I have to leave it half finished.

Why am I even worried?! I'm getting an easy day in work!

  • Another packet of chocolate digestives!!!!

I tried the leavin ghubbie alone thing again about his weight and this 'diet' he's meant to be on and once again last night he bought himself another packet of milk chocolate digestives.

I can't get him to eat healthy, I can't get him to go for walks with me because he kicks up a fuss, I can't get him to cut back on what he's eating cause then there's an unholy row about it, but I can't sit back and watch what he's doing to himself. Am at a loss.

I think I need my mummy to have a word with him because he's not listening to me and he thinks his mummy is nagging at him, he daren't say anything about my mummy because he knows I wouldn't like it and he'd be in trouble so I think that's what I will do.

  • Funeral I'm attending tomorrow.

I'll be going to the funeral of my Brother-in-law's Granny. Now I've never met the lady but I have met her daughter (Bro-in-law's Mummy) and she's a lovely lady so I'm assuming the Granny was a lovely lady as well, but unfortunately as happens to a lot of people she had Alzheimers, so at the end and for the past year or two she hasn't been able to recognise her family which is really sad and heartbreaking. She was 94 and has had a good life by all accounts, just a shame it had to end in the way it did.

I know I won't really have a right to be but I'll be upset tomorrow, I don't like seeing anyone upset and that starts me off into tears, I try not to but I can't help it.

Sad day tomorrow but it had been expected for a while so that layer of shock that appears when a loved one has died wont be so thick, will still be rough though.

  • Why am I always cold? Prevention.com may have the answer.

    Why Are You Always Cold?

Body temperature is regulated in the brain by the hypothalamus, which signals the body to give off heat in warm conditions and trap heat (or shiver, generating heat in muscles) when it's cold. Iron plays a role in this process, so people with anemia (commonly caused by iron deficiency) often feel chilly. Poor circulation--due to high blood pressure or medications, among other culprits--can leave the extremities deprived of heat. An underactive thyroid gland can also slow a person's metabolism to a point where the body generates insufficient warmth. A recent study suggested there may even be a genetic predisposition to toward tolerance of cold. If you're the type who needs to wear sweaters and wool socks in the summer, eat iron-rich foods like lean red meats, beans, and dark green leafy vegetables, which can counter anemia. And avoid nicotine, which constricts blood vessels and leads to poor circulation.

Something I can blame my high blood pressure on!

  • No tv!

We don't have any tv at the mo because Sky went on the blink for us Friday night when I came back from mummy-in-laws after 9pm, it just kept telling me there was no signal.

I checked all the wires, I tried turning it off and on again, I even gave it a slap incase that might've helped, but nothing!

Hubbie rang Sky on Saturday and they did all they could in the call-centre but in the end we've had to arrange for an engineer to come out, he is meant to be here tomorrow but because I've a funeral to go to tomorrow hubbie should be changing it until wednesday or thursday instead.

Imagine all the wrestling and cookery programmes I'm missing!!!!!

  • Have been a bit lapse taking my tablets lately...

...and this is something I need to knock on the head immediately!

How do I expect to keep my blood pressure down if I'm not taking the tablets when I should be, and if I don't take the pill regularly mistakes can be made and neither of us can afford a mistake like that especially now hubbie wants to go on a cruise next year.

Need to start behaving and taking my tablets when I should be doing so and stop being silly.

Not sure why I started this because I was always good about taking my tablets when I should even when I'm not feeling well or am out and about, but now I've said it out loud I'll be ok.

  • random questions 2

Can you knit or crochet?     I can do both, it was a competition between both my grannies when I was smaller to see who can teach me to knit or crochet before the other one

Can you curl your tongue?     yes!

Peanuts or sunflower seeds?     sunflower seeds, I keep a tub of them infront of me in work for something to nibble on

Do you wear slippers?     yes, I've got about 3 pairs of them, 2 sets of eeyore slippers and 1 set of sheep slippers that someone bought my wee sis for Christmas but they were too big (she has size 3 feet I think, but they were for a size 5-6) so I got them

What did you want to be when you grew up?     I wanted to be a music teacher, but things didn't turn out that way and I've ended up working in an office, but I still keep up with music and I play the piano as often as I can

  • Couldn't sleep last night...

...was very restless and kept waking up and that's not like me, usually I'm dead to the world in a very heavy sleep but last night was different.

Hope I'll be able to sleep ok tonight, I've a funeral to go to tomorrow and I don't need to be yawning all the way through it!

  • Had a good Valentine's Night.

The meal was lovely and the entertainment beside us was unexpected. There was a couple beside us and the woman was clearly drunk, and when she went to the toilet her partner apologised for her and said that when she had a drink in her she turned into one of those nasty mean drunks, this was the 1st time I ever came across one like that so was slightly concerned about what she was going to do, especially with the way she was flailing her arms about with no worries about who she may hit. She was quite awful to the poor man throughout the night but he was determined to enjoy his meal even if he wasn't enjoying the company.

Near the end of the night because he said she couldn't have anymore to drink as they were leaving in a min or two she stood up, called him a wanker, and stormed out. He looked very relieved than worried about her, and I don't blame him. Not quite sure why he put up with what he did, but I'm sure he had his reasons, I don't have to understand them.

The crazy drunk lady was the only blimp on an otherwise perfect night. After the meal we went to Tesco and got a lot of munchies for our dvd night, and we got to cuddle up on the sofa with our munchies and a drink each, can't remember the last time we did something like that.

It was a good night, and I'm sorry it only happens once a year with us because it would be nice to spend more time with my husband and actually act like a couple rather than two people who just happen to live together like we are now because he's working so much. Maybe it'll happen someday. I'll look forward to that.

  • Song of the week:

Shake Your Tail Feather from the Blues Brothers soundtrack - love it!

  • Random Questions 1

Do you like to use post-it notes?     Not if I can help it but they do come in handy sometimes

Do you cut out coupons but then never use them?     All the time, I usually find them a couple of months later when they have expired

Do you have freckles?     My face, chest, arms and legs are covered in them, it comes from being very pale skinned

Do you ever count your steps when you walk?     Yes it makes me feel better sometimes

What do you dip a chicken nugget in?     If it's not red sauce then it has to be either garlic and herb dip or my homemade sweet chilli sauce

  • 2 hours to go and then home time.

Can't wait to get home though I'm feeling a little restless, I'm not sure what I want to be at whether it's housework or going down home to see mummy and daddy I dunno. Hate feeling like that. I need icing sugar so I will definately be going out for some of that sometime tonight, maybe I should go see mummy and daddy after all because then I could get some on the way back again or maybe even raid my mummy's cupboards and see what she has. Not sure what to do.

Possibly I should just go home and curl up in bed as my throat is getting sore and my head is a bit bunged, hopefully it's just for the day cause I'd hate to miss out on tomorrow's meal, can't remember the last time hubbie took me out for a meal that wasn't McDonalds or KFC.

Nap 1st maybe and then decide what to do.

  • Look at what I just got!

Hubbie really does listen to me!! My favourite flowers Aqua Roses, a handtied bouquet of a dozen aqua roses. Gorgeous!

    Picture 002Picture 004

  • Why do I do these things?

I thought it would be a good idea if I put all the addresses and phone numbers from my address book onto my computer because my address book is so messy and covered with tip-ex it's getting a bit confuzzling. Before I started this it was a good idea.

I've been at it since I came in this morning and I'm only at R!

Why on earth do I do these things?!?!

  • The evilness of Icelands.

Hamwiches - need I say more.

  • Hubbie thinks I've lost the plot!

Got my Blues Brothers cd yesterday in the post, ordered it from play.com, and when I got home last night at 5 past 5, I only work round the corner from work, I put it straight on and spent the next hour dancing about the living room, and as soon as Hubbie got home from work after 6 I had him shaking his tailfeather!

Was absolutely knackered but I loved it!!!

Will be doing a lot of baking tonight so think I'll have to have the cd on again, and will be dancing about the kitchen in my apron and my Husband shaking his head at me. No-one in his family would believe I do this sort of thing cause at parties I'm the one sitting in the corner watching everyone, must remember to hide the camera so he can't tape me dancing about!

  • 3 weeks until we get the internet at home

    and I really can't wait!

Sad as it is I miss Facebook and I miss Bebo, though I never really went onto Bebo unless my niece told me off for ignoring it for so long, but I miss it all the same.

3 weeks and I can browse all the rubbishy sites I want and watch as many daft youtube videos as I can without someone asking what I'm watching and why on earth would I want to watch that. Will be able to post some of the videos I made of the cats onto youtube as well. Watch out ninja cat!

  • 45 mins to go.

Can't wait to get home and get changed into comfy jeans and thick socks and get out of my work trousers and knee high tights, they keep falling down and are sitting round my ankles (the knee highs not my trousers).

  • Tonight's plans have changed...

...we aren't going down home to get my music books, instead we'll be walking to Connswater and picking up a couple holiday brochures for cruises. He has a mind for a cruise next year. A caribbean cruise is what he's thinking about.

I'm not against the idea but I had thought we'd planned against a holiday next year and would be saving as much as possible, but once again I've found that it's not a woman's perogative to change her mind but a man's; always a man's.

  • Thank you BBC Radio 7

If it wasn't for you I would never get through the day, you bring a smile to my face and make me giggle when there's nothing to laugh about in my work.

I'm loving listening to Terry Pratchet's discworld series, and the Jane Austen adaptations, most particularly at the moment Persuasion which I have playing at the moment.

Of course I can't ignore I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue, where Humphrey Littleton lives on though he is no longer with us.

  • Getting my music books tonight.

No housework getting done tonight or tomorrow then!

Oh dear Hubbie will have to do it all, he! he! he!

  • The office is freezing this morning...

...which is quite embarrasing for a heating firm I think.

  • Should I give up?

Should I just stop trying to help Hubbie cutting back on what he eats and trying to get him to go for walks etc? It's proving pointless and the only results I'm getting are coming from me cause I'm so fed up with his whinging and complaining and his fighting with me when I don't put 'enough' on his plate according to him, but he agreed with me he'd cut down on his portions but he fights and argues with me over it and then when I'm out of the kitchen he'll put more on his plate if I won't do it so seriously what is the point?!

If he's going to keep going the way he is then I'll just tell him honestly I don't want to start a family with him, I have enough problems without trying to look after a child, keep working, and look after him when he's had a heart attack cause that's the way he's going. I don't think I could do it and I don't see why I should if it comes down to it. He's a firm believer in if you get yourself into a mess then you get yourself out of it, so I'm thinking I'll test him on that and see if he practises what he preaches.

    Why do I bother?

  • Meeting niecey for lunch today.

I call her niecey and she calls me auntie h, and then we both giggle, not sure why but think it's more to do with me having a niece who's 10 years younger than me and me being an auntie which I'm still not used to though you'd think I would be by now it's been a few years.

Think we'll be going to the noodle bar over in Connswater, she's a vegetarian so we're kinda limited to where we can go and the noodle bar is always a safe bet. Might have to nick money from the petty cash box and then repay it when I get paid again, boss knows we do this so it's ok and I'm not doing anything bad especially since I put a note into the petty cash box to remind myself to pay it back and I always do, I have a major guilt complex and feel dreadful if I forget to do something.

  • Had to put make-up on...

...and it feels a bit weird, the lip gloss is on it's last legs I think, must be time for a new one but that'll have to wait until I get paid.

  • Hubbie has a day off today...

...and it's not fair how he can do that!

I can't just book time off like that as my holidays are set and even though we can get time off it needed it's not encouraged to take random days off here and there as there's no-one to cover us, though they would manage for the day if they had to but any longer than that and everything goes to pot! (I've seen plenty examples of this like when I went on honeymoon, or when I went on holiday last year, they seem to fall apart and none of my stuff gets done if I'm not here).

Might see about getting the 6th March off as the BT engineer is coming out to sort out the phone line and switch it on, and I know Hubbie has taken the day off if I give the Boss plenty of notice now I should be ok to have the day off as well. It's been a while since Hubbie and I spent a whole day together, one of us is always working or else I've got band practise.

    Will see what happens.

  • Think I'll be driving in the morning...

...am not in the mood to near go on my arse tomorrow morning again, was near having a panic attack this morning walking to work it was that icy on my usual path, ended up having to cut across the grass which made me a bit muddy and walking down the main road, which wasn't that brilliant either very slippery also, and it took me almost 30 mins to get into work when it's a 5 min walk normally.

Bad morning, and I don't want it repeated tomorrow again.

  • This day is flying...

    ...can't believe it's 3pm already.

Feel like I've done very little today as I've nothing to show for a days work which is quite disheartening when you know you've done a lot.

Maybe sort through the rest of my invoices needing pink sheets etc and see how long that takes me.

  • Lots of baking going to be done this week!

This morning in the post into work I got my heart shape cake pans, my 3 springform cake tins, and loose bottom quiche tin, it's the best post I've gotten in a long time!! Would love to go home and start baking right now but I don't think my Boss would appreciate that some how.

Need to buy a lot of eggs tonight I think!

  • So glad we moved the piano up for the cats...

...I mean what did they do before it was brought up!

So thoughtful of us to bring it up and go through all the hassle so they could have something to lie on and to use to climb onto the bookcase to sleep on.

  • Migraine yesterday

Not often I get them but I had a stinky one yesterday, had trouble lifting my head to take the tablets Hubbie brought me it was that bad. After staying in bed for ages I got up because I couldn't get comfy and after eating a little bit Hubbie marched me upstairs again because apparently I near collapsed, though I don't remember, that was about 5pmish and the next I knew it was 9pm and Hubbie had come home from work to check up on me.

The sleep helped, but I think it was the shower that really helped, not sure why but having a shower when my head's bad really works. Don't think I'll question it and just hope it helps in the future if it happens again.

I feel completely done in today, tried to explain to Hubbie last night that the day after is usually just as bad as the pain the day before but I'm not sure he understood what I meant. Today my head still hurts but it's all over rather than just in one spot moving outwards, my head is really heavy and fuzzy feeling, my eyes are sore and it's hard to keep them open, and my whole body feels out of sorts and I can't get settled. I'm hoping I'll be ok by later cause we're going to see parents-in-law tonight and I need to be ok for listening to mummy-in-law, it's tough going sometimes trying to keep track of her!

Will see how it goes, and if it gets any worse I'll see about going home.

  • Got my piano on Saturday!!

All chuffed about that but all my music books are still down at home so have only got my hymn book to play. I don't mind playing hymns, my 1st piano teacher used hymn books as a way to get me to sight read and playing more than one note in each hand so I'm quite good at that now thanks to her, but I would love something different to play cause there's only so many hymns you can play before it gets a bit annoying. Suppose I could practise my Christmas carols but Hubbie might think I've lost the plot so have to wait until he's out of the house before I do that.

Was a bit worried about how my Daddy would manage to get it into the house but he managed it quite well even with Hubbie helping and trying to make sure my Daddy and his Daddy didn't do too much, although I'm sorry to say my Daddy was probably a bit more capable of doing the heavy lifting than Hubbie was.

Can't wait to get all my music books up this week!!!

  • They are such townies!!!

I'm a country girl, born and raised surrounded by fields with the nearest shop about 8 miles away, the people I work with have only driven past fields or seen them on tv and their nearest shop is round the corner from them.

They are panicking about the snow and I'm thinking that this is nothing. They are worried about being snowed in or stuck in East Belfast when it's barely an inch of snow that's starting to disappear once cars and people have driven and walked over it a couple of times. Tomorrow I could understand their worry if it freezes over night, but if they were so worried about it how come they managed to get into work on time? and in their work clothes with hardly a damp patch on them? I had to walk to work this morning because Hubbie has got my car and I'm sitting in my jeans, warm jumper, and two pairs of socks!

Think it's funny how they are getting on, but I love the snow, I love walking out in it and just enjoying it whilst it's here because it can go so quickly.

I know we have nothing compared to what England has got, and if we were over there then the guys might have something to complain about, but until then I'm just going to laugh at them and how they are reacting.walk to work 1 05.02.09walk to work 2 05.02.09

  • What should I listen to today?

Yesterday it was songs from the Blues Brothers movie, the day before was a local radio station and Friday was classic fm, but today I'm not sure what I'm in the mood for.

It's a toss up between trawling radio 4 and the bbc 7 radio website for listen again comedy programmes or else just leaving it on radio 2 all day and leave it at that.

A cup of tea will help me decide I think, must go.

  • We have a Czech now working for us...

...and his English isn't brilliant, infact it's dreadful and I'm not sure how he's coping but he seems to be doing ok so far.

Because he's been in the office the past couple of days I've been talking to him more than anyone else as everyone else has been out on site and he's starting to pick up on what I'm saying and now he's saying it as well. I keep having a giggling fit everytime he says oky-dokey because he says it exactly the same way I say it with the sing songy bit as well. It's mean of me to laugh but it's cute at the same time.

Hope he'll be ok here as he's alone with no family with him. Have given him everyone's numbers if he's stuck and have said if he needs anything or help with the forms and things he has just to let me know, I spend my day filling in forms sometimes so another one won't hurt too much.

  • Crackers and cheese.

Have some today, am munching on them right now (sssh don't tell my nurse!) It's not something I indulge in all that often so I think a couple is allowed today, walked to work this morning and will most likely be walking home tonight so that'll make up for it.
    They are pretty good.
