Imagine, a distant aunt's ashes are being interred and we're moving house all on the same day that my Dad has a bike race to go to, how awfully inconsiderate of us! ![]()
Standing joke in our family, it doesn't matter what's happening on the same day as a bike race my Dad will be at the bike race and won't worry a second thought about the rest of us. We even joked that if my wedding day fell on the same day as a bike race he'd be at the race!
He's not that bad but he does love his bike racing. I can understand that, his passion for something which takes him from the real world for a few hours, most people aren't that lucky to have something else to focus on and I'm glad he does.
Of course he'll be going to the funeral he wouldn't miss that, but he won't be helping us to move house and I can understand that, he'll be there afterwards when we need things moved about and help putting other stuff together. He'll be there to do the Daddy routine for me, which is much more appreciated than anything else he could be doing for us.
